Take Two From Preds

November 11, 2013

The Powassan Eagles had two games this weekend against the Toronto Predators and Alliston Coyotes. Both clubs are new to the GMHL for this season but have had strong showings through their opening seasons. The Eagles defeated the Predators 6-5 and fell to the Coyotes 11-4.

Powassan and Toronto took the game all the way to shootouts on Friday's (Nov. 8) home game. Powassan won the game 6-5 OT. Eagles goaltender Nicholas Novysedlak played great in goal making 47 saves and being named first star of the game. Anthony Trozzo's three point (2g, 1a) performance was outstanding and earned him the second star of the evening. Jan Smid had two while O'Grady and Choc each had singles.

The next evening, hosting the Alliston Coyotes, the Eagles did not make out with such lucky fortunes. Jan Smid had two goals but it was not enough as they fell 11-4 to the Coyotes. Also scoring in the game was Brennan Rainey and Togo Kaneko.

Powassan has a busy two game weekend upcoming against two very strong teams. First, the Eagles will be in South Muskoka to take on the fourth place Shield on Friday (Nov 15). After which, Powassan will be hosting the surging Orangeville Americans at home on Saturday (Nov 16). The Americans have a strong club and will pose a competitive challenge for the Eagles. Puck drop is at 7:30pm; come on out and show your support!
