The Powassan Eagles played strong this past weekend with two home games. First was against the Halton Ravens, where the Eagles fell 5-3 on Saturday. Next was a game against the Blue Ice Jets where Powassan was victorious.

Powassan played host to the newly formed Halton Ravens expansion club last Saturday (Oct. 5). Powassan started the game on their heels, falling to an early 3-0 deficit in the first period. The Eagles got it together for the next two periods but could not catch up eventually falling 5-3 final. Martin Klempa, Jan Smid and Spencer Godin all scored for the Eagles. Hak and Novysedlak split the time in goal.

The Eagles had the Toronto Blue Ice Jets come to town yesterday (Oct 6). Toronto is expected to be a favorite coming out of the South, but the Eagles still defeated them 3-2 in overtime. Vlastimil Hak was the game’s first star for making 45 saves in the victory. Patrick O’Grady and Jan Smid each scored in regulation, followed by Danil Burdov’s shootout winner.

Powassan still remains middle of the pack at 4-4-0. The Eagles will look to pull ahead of this with three games next week. Road games in Orangeville and Bobcaygeon will prelude their next home game on Sunday, October 13th. The Toronto Attack will be coming to Powassan, puck drop is 2:30PM.
