Oosterwijk Named 'Best Goalie' in IIHF World Championship

APR 28, 2013

Martijn Oosterwijk, who played junior "A" hockey in Powassan during the 2009-2010 season, was named the IIHF best goalie during the IIHF Division 1 World Championships in Croatia in February. While representing his home-country Netherlands, Martijn was the starting goalie leading them to a bronze medal finish.

Oosterwijk currently plays for the Friesland Flyers in the Netherlands top professional league when not competing for the National Team. Martijn also played in the Olympic Games Qualifiers earlier this season.

The Powassan Eagles will be announcing more player advancements from its 2012-2013 roster in the coming months. Congratulations Martijn!
