Eagles Break For Holidays

December 21, 2013

The Powassan Eagles played their final game yesterday evening before breaking for the holiday season. Many of Powassan's players will be flying out today and tomorrow to visit their home-country and enjoy the next two weeks.

Yesterday, Powassan hosted the Mattawa Voyageurs looking to extend their win-streak to three games. The Eagles dropped the match 3-2 in regulation but put forth a great effort to end the year.

The Eagles have a very respectable 11-16-0 record after 27 games. Powassan has a handful of games in hand on most teams above them, meaning Powassan could climb through the standings quickly if they perform in the final stretch.

Jan Smid is the clubs point and goal leader with 32 points and 19 goals. Import Togo Kaneko has the most assists with 18 and a total of 30 points.

The Eagles return to action in January with a two game home stand. On the Friday and Saturday, the Eagles will be playing the Bradford Rattlers and Rama Aces respectively.

League Notes: The GMHL Player Acquisition deadline is upcoming on January 10th. Stay tuned to www.powassaneagles.com for all of the team's signings or trades!
