FREE AGENT SIGNINGS

The Parry Sound Islanders are pleased to announce the signing of multiple players for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Bryan Hochberg, Valtteri Makiviinikka, Benjamin Linna, Jonny Mathieu and Zack Kusiak are signed and will be joining the Islanders for the upcoming season.

Bryan Hochberg
Bryan is a 1995 Forward who hails from Woodland Hills, CA. Bryan spent last season playing his junior hockey in the USPHL for the Boston Jr. Bruins. In 37 games, Bryan compiled 11 points  (4g, 7a) with 18 PIM. Look for Bryan to bring a veteran presence to the Islanders this year who will compete at a high level each day and is responsible in both ends of the ice.

Valtteri Makiviinikka
Valtteri is a 1997 Forward coming from his homeland of Parkano, FIN. Valtteri has spent his entire playing career in Finland, having played his past season with KOOVEE U20 in the Jr. A Mestis league. Valtteri had 37 points (23g, 14a) in 33 games for his team this past season. At 6’1” 180 lbs, look for Valtteri to bring great size to the Islanders upfront this season with good offensive production who plays the game with an edge.

Benjamin Linna
Benjamin is a 1996 Forward who is also coming from his homeland of Kangasala, FIN. Benjamin also spent his entire playing career in Finland, having played his past two seasons in the Jr. A Mestis league with Valtteri Makiviinikka. This past season, Benjamin compiled 35 points (19g, 16a) in 34 games for KOOVEE U20. Benjamin will be a great addition to the Islanders upfront this season as a two-way forward who will provide good speed along with good offensive production.

Jonny Mathieu
Jonny is a 1996 Forward who hails from the east in Manchester, NH. Jonny has spent the last three seasons playing junior hockey, most recently in the NA3EHL with the East Coast Minutemen. In 42 games, Jonny had 19 points (3g, 16a) with 28 PIM. Jonny will be a spark plug upfront for the Islanders who loves to throw the body around and play with a physical presence along with doing the little things right.

Zack Kusiak
Zack is a 1997 Forward who is from Southgate, MI. Zack has spent his last few seasons playing high school hockey for Southgate Anderson of the MHSAA. In his senior season this year, Zack played in 22 games and had 17 points (8g, 9a) with 61 PIM. Zack is a big power forward who brings good size to the Islanders upfront this season along with good speed and skill who will finish his checks and go into the dirty areas.

“I am very excited to have each and every one of these players join our organization for this upcoming year. We can’t wait to see them in an Islanders jersey. September can’t come soon enough for training camp,” stated Head Coach Doug Raymond.
