Drop Two Close Games

November 17, 2013

The Powassan Eagles narrowly dropped two games this weekend against some of the GMHL's top clubs. Powassan lost 5-4 in regulation against the second place South Muskoka Shield on the road Friday. This was followed by a 5-2 defeat by the hands of the sixth place Orangeville Americans.

The entire Eagles squad played outstanding on Friday against the Shield. Head Coach Brandon Contratto praised the squad, noting that their play has been improving dramatically over the course of the last two weeks. As mentioned previously, the Powassan dropped the game 5-4 final.  Eagles goals were scored by Togo Kaneko, Pierre Gauvreau, Adam Choc and David Krepelka.

The Orangeville Americans were in Powassan yesterday (Nov 16) evening. The Americans have climbed their way to the top of the standings after making several huge free agent signings. Powassan fell 5-2, despite a strong performance by goaltender Vlastimil Hak. Jan Smid scored his 16th goal of the season while Spencer Godin notched one of his own.

Powassan will be hitting the road for an extended series of away games through the next month. The Eagles will not be at home again until December 20th. Their first challenge will be the Rama Aces this Friday. Stay tuned to www.powassaneagles.com for all of the results of this road trip!
