Eagles Bounce Back; Grab Two Wins

Oct 28, 2013

It was a positive weekend for the Powassan Eagles, who were able to take both games against the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks and Toronto Predators. This was a pivotal weekend for the Eagles as they have clawed their way back to near .500 at 7-8-0 and remain in the middle of the pack.

Sixteen year old rookie Dryden Sollman led the Eagles to a 5-4 victory over the Lumberjacks with a three point night (2g, 1a). Captain Anthony Trozzo had three assists in the contest. Kraneko, Godin and Pejsa scored as well for Powassan. Novysedlak got the victory in goal making 29 saves.

Powassan had to battle just as hard yesterday (Oct. 27) when they played the Toronto Predators at Maple Leaf Gardens. The Eagles narrowly beat out the Predators 6-5 with a strong performance from both Togo  Kaneko and Anthony Trozzo. Each of these players scored four points (2g, 2a) with Kaneko being named second star and Trozzo third star of the game.

Trozzo appears to have excelled his play following a slow start to the season. He now has seven points in the last two games.

The captain will try to lead the rest of the Powassan Eagles through a game against the Lefroy Wave next week. Lefroy is struggling through the early part of the season, only having won two games thus far. However, league experts say the Wave a goalie that can steal a game for them on any given night. Come on out and show your support for the Eagles next Saturday, November 2nd at home. Puck drop is 7:30PM.
